Dermacol Makeup Cover Foundation (In-depth Review)

If you're looking for a long lasting foundation that is meant to cover all your skin imperfections, then you've come to the right blog! Hello and welcome to my Blog site if it's you're first time here. Please don't forget to login to my blog site so that you wouldn't miss a post. Now, let's get onto the review.

Dermacol Makeup Cover Foundation has been said to be the best foundation to cover skin imperfections as well as tattoos and this product hits off when Beauty Gurus raved about it in the YouTube Beauty Community last year. It is said to the "legendary high covering makeup". So, being a curious makeup junky, I tried and tested it out.

This product costs Php 800.00 here in the Philippines but it is also sold in Amazon.com for $13.69 (plus shipping) if you're from other countries. If you're interested to try it out, please check it here (http://amzn.to/2oMvugc). And you're getting 30 g of the product which is pretty much a standard for foundations.

This product has a total of 16 shades for you to choose from but in my opinion, it doesn't have that much of a variety for people with darker skin tones and since you're buying it online, you really have to research on the swatches for you to be able to get the perfect shade for your skintone. As for me, I bought 2 shades which are 218 and 224 and mixed them for me to be able to get my perfect match.

Benefits:

  • Waterproof

  • Hypoallergenic

  • For all skin types

  • SPF 30

  • Preservative free

Coverage::

The coverage of this foundation will depend on the tool the you're using to apply it. If you wanted a full coverage, you have to use a synthetic brush to blend it into your skin but if you wanted it to look sheerer, then I suggest that you use a beauty sponge in applying it.

I used one layer of the foundation and use a beauty sponge in applying it.

* On this photo, I used one layer of the foundation and I used a beauty sponge in applying it. As you can see it cover my skin imperfections but it still looks natural. (Watch my video to see the application demo)

Packaging:

The packaging of this product looks really glam, as you guys can see on the photo. It is also very travel friendly since it is contained in a tube which is made out of tin can or somewhat similar to a topical medication. The only problem is when you squeeze out the product, it won't return to its original form but other that, I really like its packaging.

Performance According to my Test (Oily Skin):

  • Without primer: It sinks into my pores and just took 2 1/2 hrs before the oiliness of my skin starts to peak through.

  • With an oil control primer: It took 3-4 hrs before the oiliness of my skin starts to peak through and didn't sunk into my pores.

  • With a silicone based primer: It made my face super flawless but it also made my face/skin produce more oil.

Consistency:

As for its consistency, this product has a thick or creamy consistency as you can see of the picture.

Ease of Application:

Surprisingly, eventhough this product has a thick consistency, it is really easy to blend on the skin. It also doesn't set fast so it will give an ample amount of time to blend into your skin.

Final Thoughts:

Pros:

  • Travel friendly packaging

  • Minimal product usage (a little goes a long way)

  • Buildable coverage

  • Doesn't look cakey

  • It looks natural on the skin

  • Have a nice smell

  • It looks good in pictures

  • Doesn't oxidize that much

  • It's longlasting since it's waterproof

  • Feels lightweight on the skin and it's as if you're not wearing anything on your face.

  • Even though it has a thick consistency, it blends out nicely with or without primer.

Cons:

  • Doesn't hold up the oiliness of my skin that much. So if you have oily skin like I do, you will definitely need to retouch all-throughout the day.

  • Sunk into my pores without a primer.

  • It is hard to remove since it's waterproof.

  • It is not available in the mall so there's a high chance that you'll get the wrong shade of foundation.

  • The variety of shades is not that good for people with darker skin tones.

If you're going to ask me if I am going to recommend it, YES, I will recommend it specially if you really needed a high coverage foundation that you can used to hide your skin imperfections but I wouldn't recommend for you to use it on a daily basis. And if you have oilier skin, and you hate retouching, then this foundation will not be suitable for you.

That is it for my review on the Dermacol Makeup Cover Foundation, I hope that you find this post helpful. And if you did please do leave a comment or share this post with your friends. Thank you for spending time in reading this blog. Until next time!

Anne
